DunaCity Budapest
As part of a complex urban development program, DunaCity will provide more than 500,000 sq m of office, hotel, retail and residential spaces right on the bank of the River Danube.
DunaCity Budapest is a complex real estate development project in a 32.5 hectare brownfield area where once Nagyvásártelep, the former commercial centre was located. The location of the site is now one of the most frequented and fastest improving parts of Budapest, it is situated on the busy Soroksári-road, which has great potential in possible future developments.
The main merits of the area are the location at the Danube and the coherent, more than a kilometre-long waterfront that also belongs to the site and has a regulated water-level which is unique in Budapest. The objective is to build a “mixed-urban”, and at the same time expressly waterfront milieu here.
The development includes a potential of more than 500,000 sq m of built-in floor space, including office, retail, residential and hotel functions. The main attraction of the development however, will be the waterfront promenade, which will bring the city and its inhabitants close to the river.
DunaCity Budapest is preparing a complex urban development program, which offers a lot of different products, but also fulfills the principle of variety. The products will not only harmonize, but also strengthen each other, creating harmony and comfort in everyday life.
The investment will be unique in its size, complexity and design. The overall value of the investment is 1,100 Million EUR. The project will be launched in 2010, after the completion of preparations between 2006 and 2009. The predicted date of completion is 2018.
With its daring architectural solutions DunaCity wishes to become a landmark project, the allegorical architecture of which represents 21st century Budapest, but at the same time contributes to the architectural heritage of Budapest that is historic and rich in traditions.
