Young Hungarian Scientist Shines at EUCYS 2009
A Hungarian student, Áron HUNYADI (20) won third prize at the 21st annual European Union Contest for Young Scientists, which featured 130 contestants from 38 European countries.
’Walking through (a piece of) time with a timepiece’ – Áron devised a way to improve of the accuracy of a watch using a novel design to eliminate the adverse effects of gravity on the accuracy of a watch, thus making the watch immune to positional error. His solution cancels the adverse effects of gravity at the fraction of the cost of the current solution. He also experimented with a novel way of displaying time, using alternating rotating balls.
BBR congratulates to the award-winner student of Budapest University of Technology and Economics, who will also represent young Hungarian scientists at this year’s Nobel Prize Award Ceremony in Stockholm.
