Poland, Special Guest of the 2010 MIPIM

17, March 2010

While last year Hungary was in the spotlight in MIPIM communications, this year Poland was the special guest of the international real estate exhibition, with eighteen cities exhibiting. One of their leading topics was the 2012 European Football Championship.

The Polish stands will communicate the importance of the sporting event, just like Barcelona did when hosting the Olympic Games. The Poles have realized that similar events do not only have a one-off economy-boosting effect but they can be part of a well-formed long-term strategy influencing the image of the region.

‘The recession has made Poland stronger. The current problem is that the zloty is getting too strong all the time as a result of the massive capital inflow. However, there is financing available for new developments. And although in a positive situation like this, the European Football Championship is not the main economical catalyst, but because of the short deadlines, those who are involved in the market will make swifter decisions. According to investors’ comments, Poland has overtaken the Czech Republic in ensuring eastern profit in a Western European business environment.’ said the Chairman of the Polish National Bank at the opening ceremony of MIPIM.
