Expo Real 2010
The Budapest Business Region cluster, the City of Budapest and ITD Hungary represented the Budapest region at Expo Real together for the third time this year.
Regarding the general mood of the exhibition, there was a sharp contrast between 2009 and 2010. It seems obviously that last year’s pessimism is over and the scepticism brought by the crisis is dissolving. The feedbacks of the exhibiting partners of the Budapest Business Region stand, based on the number of the interested parties and realized business meetups, also confirm optimistic predictions.
The Budapest Business Region stand offered several opportunities to discuss the open questions of the real estate sector. „Our clients are talking about the growth of Hungary” - said Péter Számely, the representative of Hypo Investment Bank. „Hungary has all the possibility that Poland had to reach a similar position after the crisis. This is just a matter of effective communication ” - Noah Steinberg, the CEO of WING pointed out.
„Beside a strategy-based image building we need to emphasize actual action as well” - added Bálint Németh, Managing Director of AERA Property & Destination.
„The new Hungarian government has a huge responsibility to regain the trust of investors in the Budapest region. This requires a strategic approach in communication. The current picture of the Hungarian economic situation looks worse than the reality” - said Rudolf Riedl, CEO of RE Project Developement.
„Seeing the real estate market globally we can pronounce that the upswing has started. However there are some disproportions. While the residential and retail market stagnate, in certain segments of hotel sector the demand appreciably has a start up” - said René Droese, Property Managment Director of Budapest Airport.
„After the recession the Hungarian real estate market has to focus on its breaking points, its specific segments where increasing demand can be forecasted in the near future. Some of them can be defined already, for instance there is a remarkable demand for 4 and 5 stars hotels in Budapest” - added Dr Gergely Árendás, Chairman of the Roundtable of Real Estate Developers Association.
At Expo Real, exhibitors were trying to get the attention of potential investors by catchy presentations. Gergely Orbán, the cluster manager of the Budapest Business Region attracted huge attention from investors by his presentation of „The Taste of Budapest” combining Hungarian high gastronomy and positive economical data into a menu.
Besides to the gastronomical outlook Károly Szép and Peter Gauder representing Studio Metroplitana presented the concept of Budapest European Metropolis and Budapestprojects.com to the audience of the BBR stand.
At the exhibition BBR business partners were also given the opportunity to present their projects. We were introduced to the projects of WING, Talentis Group, Indotek Group, bvp │ Jádi Németh and Szécsényi Attorneys at Laws, Budapest Airport and Walter Immobilien.
In addition to the rich professional content the attractive stand design elements helped the success of the appearance at the exhibition. Zsolt Mihályfi, owner of 360º World impressed visitors with his 70 gigapixel panorama of Budapest. This unique attraction convincingly highlighted the attraction words of the Budapest region: creativity and innovation.
Gergely Orbán, the cluster manager of the Budapest Business Region summarized his impressions of the exhibition of this year as follows: „Despite of the fact that the welcome of Hungary and Budapest is non-rival with the one of Poland and other CEE cities, proactive investment interest at the BBR-stand is extremely high. More and more investors can see the economical potency of Hungary again. On the most important day of Expo Real 2010 we could face optimism and interest what makes us think that by the help of adequate region strategy and marketing support Budapest can play a recognized and dominant role in upswing after the recession.”
